We are seven handsome and charming* guys who meet at a different restaurant every month or so, having read a book in common, and discuss whatever we want--generally the assigned book, but usually many other timely topics as well. We rotate the responsibility to suggest titles, but the group has the final say. Our book club rules: 1) Anything goes, fiction or nonfiction; 2) paperbacks are preferred; and 3) staying under 300 pages is desirable (N.B., we violate this one all the time). We rate all books and restaurants on a 5-point scale.

* All other adjectives were vetoed.

Run by Ann Patchett (Biaggio)

Biaggio was the perfect place to eat and talk: good food and quiet space.  Generally, we enjoyed the book, a three-day story of a mixed family who go through a car accident which ends in tragedy in the final chapter of the tale.  The characters are varied and interesting, and there are several sub-plots and side stories.  Our next book is Family of Spies by Christine Kuehn. Other books we considered: 1177 B.C. by Eric Cline, Every Day Is Sunday byKen Belson, and Rabbit Run by John Updike. We agreed to meet on May 12 when Max will suggest books for next time.
